The Thinker

Just an observation.....and it's not specific to the 4 legged art show....but
I'm REALLY surprised at how many folks said to me, "There is nothing here that would go with my house" ie: decor
Now look, to be brutally honest, out of 103 pieces at the show there were probably only 3 that I would have bought. The old "leap off the wall and grab me" just wasn't happening. Perhaps it was the subject matter ie: other peoples pets? BUT....I have NEVER looked at a piece of art and baulked at buying it because it didn't go with the carpet.....or the lounge!
I don't understand? Doesn't art stand alone? Shouldn't art "stick out" and if you like it because it really grabbed something within then shouldn't that be exemplified by the painting saying, "Hey, look at me!".....not blend in with the colour scheme.
I'm interested and want to know your thoughts on the subject. Feedback please?

Buddha's Big Buddy

He didn't show it but he was terribly STRESSED on the day. The little army did a fantastic job of keeping him together.....and their air-conditioned cars helped ENORMOUSLY!!!
THIS is how you de-stone a Nectarine Jon....like THIS!!
No pictures I'm afraid of the actual Auction day the next week....but my friend Richard got the Glen Preese for $1,500 !
GET OUTTA HERE!!!!!

Buddha's Army

Here, is the secret kitchen in which the army of little Chillers....or some of them anyway....pooted forth and did squirt quarter ounce cheese rosettes into hollowed out Cherry Tomatoes (Geezuz....life is too short!) and numerous other tasty delicacies for the critical but acclaimed throng that gathered on opening day.
A Huge thank you, you guys & gals for helping me on the day. So hot. So much laughter. So ...tedious!

Four Legged Artists

Here we see four legged art critics* waxing lyrical about how each work counterpoints the surrealism of the underlying metaphor.

The art was good, the drink was better and the food was art in your mouth.
